Seasonal Variations

Le Verger is also an excellent destination for a visit throughout the year

Obviously the summer is a wonderful time to visit. When the sunshine is blazing it’s glorious to have breakfast outside on the terrace, or to lie in a hammock amongst the copse of trees in the garden. The house also has incredibly thick stone walls, which keep it pleasantly cool inside when weather is hot. Hesdin has a midsummer festival when the town becomes alive with music, dancing and a communal meal in the main square. Le Touquet also hosts a Jazz festival, which takes place annually in the Summer.

Autumn and Spring are the best times of year for sand-yachting at Le Touquet because there’s a greater chance of good strong winds at these times. The surrounding countryside gets particularly gorgeous in Spring too – having a cycle or picnic in Hesdin forest at this time gives you a chance to seen the wood anemones and bluebells carpeting the woodland floor.

Autumn and Spring are also excellent times to visit the local golf courses.

Winter in Wambercourt often brings snow and there are some hills nearby that provide quality sledging opportunities. Another joy of winter is cooking steaks on the open log fire and drinking red wine on the sofas. Again, the thick walls of the house help it retain heat and make sure it’s nice and cosy when the temperatures drop. As one guest remarked: “This is a wonderful house to have bad weather in!”.
